San Fernando Valley

The Valley ranch and the long hall

Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills: a single-story, a long corridor, bedrooms on one end, bath on the other. The house was perfect in 1974. The hall is the problem now.

Situation study — not a client case KLM Ventures has not published a named, permissioned customer story yet. This is a typical Southern California household and house type we design for. Real before/afters will replace these when families agree in writing.

San Fernando Valley CCD is about 1.81 million people (Census Reporter, ACS 2024 5-year), slightly older median age than LA County. We do not invent a Valley-wide 65+ percentage. We do know the housing form: ranch and rambler plans with a hallway that was never designed for night, glare, or a walker.

The adult child often does not live in that house anymore. They live west, or in Irvine. They remember the hall as short. It is not short at 2 a.m.

Lifestyle function, not a gadget list

  • Light the corridor as a path, not a showroom.
  • Voice that works from the bedroom without shouting at a phone in the kitchen.
  • Front door as the only camera conversation.

More on the Valley page. If the parent is in Ventura County, we will not pretend we serve it yet.
