Veterans and an accessible smart home

VA housing grants are real. They are not a coupon for a voice speaker. We will not invent a “we got Mr. X $126,526” story. We will tell you which door to knock on and write a spec you can attach.

Amounts live in the guide FY 2026 SAH / SHA / HISA numbers and HISA exclusions (no stair glides, no security systems, no new construction) are on VA grants — how to start, re-verified against VA.gov. Recheck each 1 October.

A veteran in Northridge or Garden Grove who wants the house to listen is still a design client. If they also have a qualifying disability rating, SAH/SHA/HISA may fund structural and medically justified work. Plug-in voice lighting is not automatically HISA. We say that in the guide so nobody spends a month on a form for a smart bulb.
